Starting next month, Dhara Vyas will assume the role of CEO at Energy UK, succeeding Emma Pinchbeck, who is departing to helm the Climate Change Committee. Vyas, the Deputy CEO since November 2022, initially joined Energy UK in November 2021 as the Director of Advocacy after a tenure at Citizens Advice. She led initiatives focused on Net Zero, decarbonisation, and the future energy market there.
Before her roles in the energy sector, Vyas contributed to local government, where she engaged in various policy domains ranging from civil society and community engagement to local democracy and scrutiny. She has actively participated on several governmental and academic advisory boards and is a trustee for the Green Alliance, an independent environmental think tank.
Commenting on her appointment, Dhara Vyas said:
“It’s unsurprisingly been an intensely busy time for Energy UK in the year since I joined, and it’s been a great privilege to work for the industry’s trade body during such a crucial period for the sector.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to take on this this role and to continue to work with our fantastic team, members and external stakeholders whose contributions have impressed me so much over the last year. I look forward to working together not only to meet the continuing and immediate challenges but to help enable a successful industry to play its full part in the country’s energy transition to net zero, contribute to economic growth and provide services that deliver for all our customers.”
Energy UK’s Interim Chief Operating Officer, Siobhan Kenny said:
“Dhara is a well respected energy expert and has really stepped up into a leadership role since I joined Energy UK in an interim role in April this year. She is a first class ambassador for the industry and will make an excellent Deputy CEO, supporting Emma Pinchbeck when she returns to work in the New Year.”
