Lightship Secures $34 Million in Series B Financing for Electric RV Expansion

Lightship, an innovative all-electric RV company based in San Francisco, has completed a $34 million Series B funding round. This significant financial milestone was co-led by Obvious Ventures and Prelude Ventures, with participation from Allegis Capital, global RV leader THOR Industries, and its investment partner TechNexus Venture Collaborative. The funding round also saw the return of existing investors Congruent Ventures, HyperGuap, and Alumni Ventures.

The capital infusion is set to fuel Lightship's ambitions, primarily to ramp up the production of their groundbreaking Lightship L1 model. Launched in 2020 under the leadership of CEO Toby Kraus, Lightship stands at the forefront of the electric revolution in recreational vehicles. The company specializes in crafting aerodynamically designed, battery-powered trailers that redefine RV travel for the electric era.

The Lightship L1, the company's flagship model, is distinguished by its substantial battery energy storage system, electric propulsion, and a solar array capable of powering the vehicle off-grid for an entire week. Lightship is poised for growth with a newly established production facility in Broomfield, Colorado. The company expects to generate numerous high-tech engineering and manufacturing jobs as it escalates production to meet the soaring demand following its market introduction.
