Prince William Visits ENSO to Unveil Partnership with Uber

Uber has announced a transformative partnership with ENSO, a finalist for The Earthshot Prize, to deploy energy-efficient, low-emission electric vehicle (EV) tyres across the UK and the USA. This collaboration will boost ENSO's cutting-edge tire technology availability while aligning with Uber's push toward full electrification and greener transportation solutions.

The partnership was unveiled in London, Uber's global hub for electrification, where almost 30% of Uber's miles are already fully electric. Uber has injected £145 million into its Clean Air Fund, designed to help drivers transition to electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its ambitious green agenda.

This collaboration between Uber and ENSO includes a three-year plan to establish a dedicated Buyer's Club. Thousands of Uber drivers in the UK and the US will gain access to ENSO's high-performance tires at discounted rates. These innovative tires, engineered to extend the range of EVs while reducing harmful tire pollution, directly support Uber's broader sustainability targets.

ENSO, a tire technology pioneer based in London, recently revealed plans to build a $500 million carbon-neutral tire factory in the US, which is expected to be operational by 2027. The facility will generate over 600 jobs and produce more than five million EV tires annually, significantly expanding ENSO's global footprint.

This partnership also marks Uber's first collaboration with an Earthshot Prize finalist, underscoring its role as a Founding Partner of the prestigious initiative created by HRH Prince William. Uber will nominate climate tech start-ups for The Earthshot Prize, which awards £1 million to five recipients annually. Beyond the monetary reward, finalists will benefit from mentorship and collaboration opportunities with Uber engineers, creating a strong ecosystem for climate innovation.

Hannah Jones, CEO of The Earthshot Prize, lauded the partnership, stating it exemplifies how businesses can unite with innovators to tackle the global climate crisis.

Uber has pledged to become a zero-emissions mobility platform by 2040, with a more immediate target for North America and Europe by 2030. With low and zero-emission options already available in over 200 cities, Uber continues to lead the charge in reshaping urban transport, offering its drivers sustainable alternatives and making significant strides in emissions reductions.

This partnership precedes Uber's second annual climate event, GO-GET Zero. At this event, the company will introduce new features designed to promote sustainable choices for drivers, consumers, and merchants, further underscoring its commitment to a greener future.
