Recycle Track Systems Secures Over $40 Million to Advance AI-Powered Waste Solutions

Hammaad Saghir

New York-based Recycle Track Systems Inc. (RTS) has closed its latest funding round, securing over $40 million to propel its AI-driven waste management and recycling technology. With a mission to revolutionize the industry through smarter, more sustainable solutions, RTS will use this fresh influx of capital to scale its traceability systems, optimize waste collection, and streamline environmental compliance.

The round was led by Edison Partners, an existing investor, with additional backing from Volition Capital, StepStone Capital Partners, and other key stakeholders. The investment underscores the growing demand for tech-enhanced waste solutions, particularly as cities and businesses seek to improve efficiency while meeting sustainability targets.

“This round further strengthens RTS’ position as a pioneer in AI-powered waste management,” RTS co-founder and CEO Greg Lettieri says. “The continued support from our investors reflects the market’s trust in our innovative approach to sustainability. This capital will accelerate our investments in AI [and] automation and expand the deployment of Pello sensors across our customer base, enabling us to collect real-time waste data that sets a new standard for the industry. With this data, we’ll continue to drive innovation and advance how waste management is approached, unlocking new efficiencies and insights that will shape the future of the industry.”

At the heart of RTS' innovation is Pello, an advanced waste sensor system that provides real-time data on container fill levels, contamination, bin location, and temperature. Integrating AI-powered analytics enables businesses to optimize haul schedules, automate pickups, and track environmental, safety, and governance (ESG) metrics—transforming waste management from a static process into a dynamic, data-driven operation.

“We’ve seen RTS grow from a promising startup to an industry leader driving real change in waste management,” says Larry Cheng, managing partner at Volition Capital. “This funding further accelerates RTS’ momentum, pushing the boundaries of AI and automation while expanding their impact across North America, solidifying their position as the industry’s most innovative and impactful player.”

RTS recently secured a ten-year contract in New York, solidifying its role as a leading provider of containerized waste services across the city. The company was named one of five awardees for city-wide waste collection and designated as a zone awardee for three commercial waste zones. RTS aims to drive sustainability initiatives across all five boroughs in collaboration with established haulers—including Winters Bros., City Waste Services of New York, and Regency Recycling.

As waste management faces increasing regulatory pressures and corporate ESG commitments grow, RTS’ AI-powered solutions could play a pivotal role in reshaping the industry's future. With this latest investment, the company is poised to scale its impact, delivering cleaner, more intelligent waste and recycling systems nationwide.

“RTS is uniquely positioned to help businesses and municipalities create healthier, more sustainable communities where our waste is better managed for our next generations,” RTS board member Shazi Visram says. “With a strong and passionate leadership team and solid foundation, I have full confidence in RTS’ ability to lead the transformation of this industry towards a better way.”
